FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: JANUARY 20, 2003
MUSIC FOR THE MISSING
The G.I.N.A Festival has been gaining awareness for the missing all over the nation through a series of concerts. With support from artists ranging from national to local status, venues, promoters, the media and The National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences (NARAS/The Grammy’s) along with the music industry, the G.I.N.A. Festival For Missing People will provide music for the missing in an effort to educate, showcase, create an awareness for those that are missing and urge people to join in and help in any way they can.
On January 29, 2003, a G.I.N.A. concert will be held at Curly’s East End in Tulsa, OK to support missing Oklahoman, Jeffrey Lee Ben. The doors will open at 7:00pm and the show will begin promptly at 8:00pm featuring 6 artists for only $5 for the entire night. The artists are: Jannel Rap of Southern California, Nathan Brant of Tulsa, ‘Tulsa’s Best New Artist’ Tony Romanello, ‘Grammy Award winning songwriter’ Susan Gibson (formerly of the Groobees and songwriter of the Dixie Chicks mega-hit ‘Wide Open Spaces’) and the upcoming Oklahoma band Upside.
On January 29, 2001 at the age of 18, Jeffrey disappeared from his hometown of Clayton, OK leaving only a wrecked pick-up tuck that was borrowed from his father behind. With limited evidence and many questions, the scandalous investigation continues at a stand-still. This concert is for him and those like Jeffrey, who are missing.
G.I.N.A was formed after the disappearance of singer/songwriter Regina Bos on October 17, 2000 by her sister, Jannel Rap who is also a singer/songwriter. G.I.N.A., an acronym for "Greater Investigation Now Available", is one of the only organizations that extensively search for missing children and adults through the collaboration of music and artists. The G.I.N.A. concert series aims to utilize the power of music to help families and friends of the missing by organizing, producing and promoting concerts across the United States. Like many concerts, G.I.N.A. brings together a collection of artists to speak directly to their audience. However, G.I.N.A. changes the focus to music of the missing enabling the artists not only to speak directly to their audience but to also educate the world of the missing children and adults across the nation. Through music and artist participation, G.I.N.A. is opening the eyes of America to help find those missing or lost.
In 2001 after a G.I.N.A. concert series in New York, a young man featured as a (G.I.N.A.) missing person was found and reunited with his family. One person may seem like nothing but a low statistic, but to the family of Mr. Geoff Estes that one person is their son.
Please join us January 29, 2003 as we bring the G.I.N.A. music for the missing concert series to Curly’s in Tulsa, OK for the anniversary of Jeffrey Lee Ben’s disappearance. Music is the way to inspire the world; awareness is the only way to help find those missing or lost.
